In June of 2021, the Canadian Government passed legislation that recognizes September 30th as a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
While, at the moment, this is only a statutory holiday for federal employees, SARC and SARCAN Recycling are committing to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by closing the SARC Office, all SARCAN Recycling depots, and SARCAN processing plants to allow all of our employees a day of remembrance and reflection.
SARC and SARCAN Recycling are committed to upholding an inclusive, diverse, and respectful workplace for all our employees and community partners. We recognize and seek to advance Indigenous human rights through Truth and Reconciliation. Observing National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is just one part of our commitment to bring about positive change with Indigenous people and communities.
This is an important day for people to reflect upon our shared history as Canadians and work towards building a more inclusive Saskatchewan. Just as we have encouraged our employees, we encourage our customers and all citizens of Saskatchewan to use this day for personal reflection, joining in Orange Shirt Day events in your community, participating in education and awareness activities with Indigenous leaders, and to seek out more knowledge and information about Truth & Reconciliation.
