For the Holidays
Anytime you buy a ready-to-drink beverage in SK, you pay a deposit on the container it is in. Bring them into a SARCAN Recycling depot to get your deposit back.
Just finished a project and not sure what to do with those old paint cans? It’s easy: Bring them in to SARCAN for recycling. Even if they have some paint left in them – we’ll reuse it!
You know that old blown speaker you keep stubbing your toe on collecting dust in the garage? Let us take care of it – SARCAN accepts a variety of end-of-life electronics for recycling!
Go ahead and pop that top! Having the caps off allows us to compact your containers. Like, really compact them. We can fit up to 4x as much on our trailers after compaction which lowers our greenhouse gas emissions.
Removing caps from your plastic and glass bottles before you visit saves time in line, and the caps can still be recycled if they are brought in separately!
You don’t wanna be smelling your last trip to the ‘CAN in your car a week later or walking into milk jug musk everytime you step into your garage. Lucky for you – you don’t have to! A quick rinse can go a long way for getting rid of the stick and stink of old beverage containers.
Just a quick blast of warm water, swish it around, and dump it out. With the cap already off, it will dry out virtually odourless.
Bigger doesn’t always mean better, especially when you are trying to fit those five bags of recycling in your car! You can really save on space by flattening your containers before you bag them. Plus – it’s just fun stomping on cans!
When you are flattening, be sure to do it lengthwise and try to keep the label visible so we can tell the size.
If you could have more of anything, what would it be? Yeah, we said time too. Now you can have more time – by sorting your containers! Sorted orders only take a fraction of the time to count compared to mixed bags. You’ll be in and out in no time!
The trick to sorting is if they look the same, toss them in the same bag. Put clear plastics together; green plastics all in one; thicker, white plastics in the same bag; cartons and boxes can go together; and so on.
With 73 depots in the province, you don’t have to look too hard to find your local SARCAN – chances are you are already pretty close to one! Use the yellow bar at the top of every page on this site to find the closest depot to you.
Once you know, head to our Hours & Locations page to find out their address, hours, phone number and other useful details about your SARCAN.
Remember those old ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ books? Well, with so many different ways to recycle with SARCAN, you can relive those books with your bottles and cans and choose how you want to visit us!
You could come in and visit with our classic Over-The-Counter service, skip the line and save some time with Drop & Go, bring your business bottles with a Bulk Return, or raise some funds with a Bottle Drive.
Drop off your containers, tag your bags, and go — it’s that simple!
SARCAN Drop & Go is the quickest, easiest way to recycle with SARCAN to get your beverage container deposit refund. With a Drop & Go Account, after you’ve dropped and tagged your bags and boxes, you can receive your payments through e-Transfer, PayPal, or by coming back to the depot and picking up a cheque.
The benefits of recycling at SARCAN are numerous. In addition to diverting waste and helping protect Saskatchewan’s environment, the products we recycle also get turned into new and useful products.
