The life of a SARCAN Mechanical Technician
Each and every SARCAN team member is an important part of our team and our community. As a Mechanical Technician you will be responsible for:
- Handling a broad range of maintenance and mechanical repair and installation assignments for processing plants and depots across the province.
- Manufacturing tools and equipment to meet the particular needs and specifications of processing plants and/or depots.
- Hiring and supervising contractors for projects (e.g. installations, maintenance, etc.), as required
- Acting as an expert resource within SARCAN with respect to maintenance and mechanical projects, problems, and plans.
- Participating in larger projects, handling the key aspects of mechanical and maintenance planning and implementation work, and making recommendations accordingly, as required.
- Assisting with the assessment of damaged equipment and mechanical and other systems, identifying options and implications for repairs or replacement.
- Taking part in the relocation of depots across the province.
- Attending regular plant supervisory meetings, training and workshops as required
- Performing other duties as assigned
What are the skills you must have to perform this role?
To be successful as a Mechanical Technician at SARCAN, you will need:
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Prefer relevant journeyperson ticket as a Millwright or Welder and a minimum three years of related experience including a demonstrated ability to adapt and/or manufacture tools and equipment to exact specifications – willing to train the right Post Pre-Employment candidate.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365; comfortable learning new technical systems as needed.
- To possess good communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to do physical work and be able to stand for long periods of time
- A practical and innovative approach to solving problems
- To be able to work effectively with others in the planning and implementation of mechanical and/or maintenance projects
- A high level of professionalism
- To provide a satisfactory criminal record check as a condition of employment.
