Why accept this challenge?
There’s a hero in all of us! Each year billions of batteries across the world end up in our landfills, where toxic metals could possibly harm our environment. By recycling your batteries in a Call2Recycle box at your local SARCAN depot you are doing something truly Amazing!
You are protecting our wildlife and our environment.
Recycling your old batteries keeps hazardous material out of the landfill where it can be a threat to the environment.
You are keeping people and property safe by reducing potential fire risk.
If batteries are improperly disposed of at their end-of-life, they can short-circuit or overheat and cause a fire or injury.
You are helping turn end-of-life batteries into new things.
Metals captured during the recycling process can be reused as input material for manufacturing new products such as bicycles, pots and pans, or even new batteries!
What happens when you bring batteries to SARCAN?
Look out! The metals found in batteries aren’t waste… they are valuable resources that can be transformed into new products. From your old batteries to new items like pots and pans, silverware, sunscreen, and even golf clubs, check out the Battery Recycling Journey.
